If I have shingles, does that mean I should go get tested for HIV? Does it mean that I probably have HIV?

No. Shingles is due to the chickenpox virus which hide in the nerve tissue and flare up from time to time. It is not related to the HIV at all, so you don't need to be tested for HIV simply because you have singles. You need direct exposure to HIV such as through unprotected rather than because you have shingles. A long time ago I had a patient in his early 50s who had shingles and followed a year later with the development of type 2 diabetes. It makes you wonder doesn't it?
