Why build a castle and hide it behind straw bales?

If the thing doesn`t have planning permission, then surely the fact that you are hiding it from public view defeats the point of building it in the first place. By hiding it, it becomes `just a house`, as faceless as anything being built currently around the suburbs of many of our cities.
